A Class Of Their Own
When we launched the She Means Business Incubator in March 2020, we hoped to help underrepresented women entrepreneurs start profitable businesses in their communities. We had no knowledge that a world-wide pandemic would occur and that the challenges the entrepreneurs faced would become 10 times harder. We went into the launch of the incubator will wide-eyed optimism and a fair share of doubt about how COVID-19 would affect our participants.
After making the transition from a hybrid program (online + in-person), we found that we were still able to maintain the core mission of the program. Equipped with dedicated mentors, hardworking participants, fearless sponsors, and a slew of phenomenal facilitators, we were able to operate at high efficiency and gained rave reviews from participants.
During the 6 weeks, an unprecedented number of hours were put in to make sure the program operated as initially planned, and we successfully made it to our culminating event, the SMBI Pitch Presentation! At the presentation, all six of the women entrepreneurs pitched their businesses, and 1 winner took home the She Means Business Grant & a new HP laptop. All the participants gave the program 100%, and they’ve helped us create the blueprint for future cohorts. To see the ladies in action, watch the live presentations below:
